While the 2016 election is more than a year away, those who can “bearly” wait to see who will win the day now have a group of fuzzy friends to comfort them until Election Day: presidential candidate teddy bears.
The Vermont Teddy Bear Co. is promoting the importance of voting in the 2016 election with their recently unveiled lineup of presidential candidate bears, a collection of plush politicians from both parties.
Vermont Teddy Bear has unveiled five bears inspired by the top contenders on both sides of the aisle. Bernie Bear has a messy white mop top, and Trump Bear also features a signature hair style. Carson Bear is dressed in doctor’s scrubs while Clinton Bear dons a pant suit, pearls and a BlackBEARY. Jeb Bear comes with an accompanying “family bush.” The company said more bears could be announced.
“There’s whisperings that Biden Bear is waiting in the wings,” according to a news release from the company.
The release of the bears coincides with a digital ad campaign by Vermont Teddy Bear to promote voting by asking citizens to “PAWS for politics.”
“Voting is a right too often taken for granted,” Vermont Teddy President Bill Shouldice said. “Back in 2012, it was estimated that approximately 40 percent of Americans didn’t vote. Forty percent! That’s a travesty.”
“The goal of Vermont Teddy Bear is to encourage greater interest and engagement in the political arena as we gear up for another important election year,” Shouldice added.
Besides the campaign, the company is also holding an online poll in which people can cast votes for their favorite bear.
All the presidential bears cost $79.99 and are made in the company’s factory in Shelburne.
